MOTHERSHIP TRIPS
The Archer River area on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula is
home to any tropical species of sportfish available in northern
Australia.
Accessed by air from Cairns with daily flights into Aurukun this
sportfishing playground is second to none in Australia when it comes to
lure and fly fishiing anglers alike.
A ninety minute flight from Cairns sees anglers arrive at Aurukun and
transfer to the mothership is one kilometre from Aurukun airport.
Anglers are usually fishing within three hours from leaving Cairns which
makes this a very unique location.
From bluewater and reef areas across vast flats and up into large river
systems this area is a must do for anglers seeking some of the best
bluewater and Barramundi fishing available
in Northern Australia.
More recently of interest to flyfishing anglers is the huge schools of
Milkfish readily available and catchable in this area thanks to the
pioneering of Steve Jeston. These critters are of worldwide interest to
flyfishers and double hookups are common in this part of the world.
Rivers include the Archer, Ward, Watson and Love systems.
These are easily accessed from our mothership the Pikkuw which is fully
airconditioned and has a large covered outdoor BBQ area on the top deck
which is great place to relax with a cool drink and recount the day's
sportfishing activities.
Accomodation is in twin share cabins with six anglers maximum .
Guides are experienced and professional and two anglers are guided per
boat which makes for good service and ample opportunity per angler.
Mudcrabs are plentiful as well so these are featured high on the menu
along with fresh fish of varying species.
Meals are excellent and the vessel has a liquor licence. Simply pre
order your alcoholic beverages and it will be waiting on the mothership
on your arrival.
Join us for some unforgettable Barramundi and sportfishing action in the
Archer River area of Cape York in northern Australia.
